We have published a CoraQuest kid’s book on Amazon!!

Annabelle and the Sorcerer’s Spoon is a children’s chapter book for families to read together, or for kids of 7-12 to read independently. It’s written by me (Dan Hughes) and illustrated both inside and out by CoraQuest’s chief-colourer-in, Gary King

Wizard Pebbledash is in trouble.

It’s the village Shiniest Spoon Competition today, and his arch-rival, Wizard Bandicoot, is plotting to cheat him out of first place! And if that’s not stressful enough, his assistant has accidentally washed his best wizarding cloak in custard!

Luckily, trainee adventurer Annabelle is on the case. She’ll go into the dark and dangerous dungeon on a quest to make Pebbledash’s spoon shine more brightly than a dragon’s hoard. She’ll battle mischievous orcs, and solve fiendish problems – but will she get back in time to spoil Bandicoot’s plans to cheat in the competition? You’ll have to read this book to find out!

Contains a free new adventure for the CoraQuest board game so players can take part in the story too!

The Tantalising Tale of the Teleporting Terror

Join the ‘wheelie’ exciting adventure, as you help Wizard Pebbledash recover his bicycle, which has a horrible habit of turning into a monstrous entity named Slippery Jim and teleporting around the dungeon.

Alongside your gnome friends, Kevin, the self-proclaimed private eye, and the amazing Annabelle, unravel the comical mystery of the “Giant Robotic Vampire Beaver” while encountering ketchup chaos, an alien friend with a headache, and unexpected twists in this quest to catch a belligerent bike.

CoraQuest: Keep on Questing expansion announced

Cora, Gary, and I are very excited to announce that the new expansion for the game: Coraquest: Keep on Questing will be coming to Kickstarter towards the end of October 2022. Here’s the highly professional announcement video we made about it.

CoraQuest: Keep on Questing is an expansion that adds campaign rules to the game. You’ll be able to level up your heroes between quests, and also keep treasure from one adventure to another. There are two full campaigns included – “The Curse of Hoodez” and “A Spotter’s Guide to the Dungeon”. Each campaign contains five brand-new adventures to play through – so that’s a total of ten new adventures! There is also very simple guidance on how to turn the base game adventures into a campaign, as well as write your own campaigns yourself.

And of course there will be tons more heroes, enemies, treasure cards, and dungeon cards for you to play with too.

There’s even a rumor some legendary “super-cool black dice” making an appearance.

New Free Quest: A Recipe for Adventure

We have released another free quest for the CoraQuest base game!

That rotten blighter Wizard Bandicoot is up to his old tricks. He’s cast a spell and turned poor Kevin’s pet cats, Remy and Luna, into a two-headed monster again.

Wizard Pebbledash needs you to go down into the dungeon and find the missing pages of his Potion Recipe book so he can cure them.

New Free Quest: The Heat is On

The first of our free CoraQuest adventures is now available!

There’s trouble in the dungeon!

Kevin and Annabelle have been messing about with the thermostat in the dungeon and have turned the heating up too high. Now it’s so warm down there that all the dormant spider eggs are starting to hatch out! A brave band of heroes need to go on an adventure to turn the heating dial back to its regular setting.

Media Mayhem!!

It was full tilt in the Hughes house throughout the KickStarter campaign, with lots of newspaper and television interviews about CoraQuest. We are really pleased to see the hobby we love getting mainstream media attention and its been incredibly uplifting hearing from people who are arriving new to the community as a result.

Drip, drip, drip, it’s dark, damp and cold with a whiff of hedgehogs and danger about it. Welcome to Hoodez Dungeon!

But what does it look like, what objects can you see in the dark corners and strewn across the floor?

What are we looking for?

Help us fill the CoraQuest dungeon by sending us your own ‘orrible’ objects and fearsome features – whether that is furniture, discarded weapons, pools of slime, skeletons or piles of treasure – whatever! Remember that the dungeon is also the place that the enemies cook, eat, sleep, wash, and relax in too – so anything goes! We will use these drawings to help us fill Dungeon Cards, and also create extra vinyl stickers that people can use to customise their dungeon the way they want it.

You can draw a card based on one of the ‘Idea Starters’ on the last page or invent your own design.

In order to fit well into the rest of the game (and make Gary’s life easier) it has to meet some criteria:

Use the template provided or simply draw your own 3×3 grid.

Please include with the submission the artist’s first name, age and country.

Items need to be drawn as if viewed from above. Imagine yourself glued to the ceiling looking down on the space you are creating.

The drawing should be line art. Don’t colour it in or shade it, as we need to give Gary something to do!

Please only send children and young people’s drawings.

Kids of all drawing abilities are encouraged to send us something. Charm rather than technical competence is the most important thing.

You should send us your pictures in .jpg format. Don’t send PDF’s, as they get stuck in Hoodez letterbox.

You can scan your design, or just send in a photo taken on a camera phone.

If you can, change the file name of the image you send to the artist’s first name and age e.g. dan21.jpg But don’t worry if you can’t.

How to change picture names?

Android

Open your file manager app.

Go to where the file is saved.

Long press on the file you want to change.

In the window that just popped up select the rename option.

Rename the file to whatever you wish.

Hit OK.

Iphone

Go to Photos and open a picture.

Tap on Share, scroll down and tap “Save to Files”.

Tap “On My iPhone” and select a folder.

To rename the image, tap the file name next to the image thumbnail and enter a name.

Hit Save

You should email your pictures to dungeon@coraquest.com. While you are more than welcome to post the pictures on Facebook or on social media (in fact we encourage it!) we can only consider pictures that are emailed in as well.

We are setting a deadline of Thursday 18th of February at 5pm GMT (12 noon EST) for all the drawings to be in.

Please note, whilst we hope to include as many young people’s drawings as possible in the final production of CoraQuest the game, we can’t guarantee a place.

Idea Starters

This is obviously where the orcs and goblins in this dungeon store their food. There are barrels full of slug slime resting against the wall, and sacks bulging with dried rat tails stacked up on the floor. On top of one of the barrels is a giant spider egg and a green bottle with the words “ healf poshun ” written crudely on it.

You see a table covered in half empty dishes and a very mucky mug. On a rusty metal plate is an egg. But it’s not an egg from a chicken, or even a duck. It’s a giant spider egg!

This has to be the filthiest kitchen you have ever seen in your entire life. There’s slime dripping down the walls, old rotting food all over the floor. Out of the corner of your eye you notice that there is a large spider egg in the middle of a web hanging from the ceiling.

Old Morag Clutterbuck is sitting by a huge table covered in piles of fancy plates, cups,and saucers, of all sorts of different shapes and sizes.

You see a large stone table in the room. In the centre of it sits a skull made entirely of crystal. It looks pretty valuable! Nearby is a pile of stones.

The CoraQuest App!

Making CoraQuest has been such a wonderful creative adventure for Cora and I, and we decided we didn’t want to keep that experience just to ourselves – we wanted to help others have that creative adventure too.

CoraQuest a complete family dungeon crawling game straight out of the box, and has enough heroes, monsters and quests to keep you adventuring for a very long time. However, should you want to get a bit creative and come up with your own heroes, monsters, and quests, then theres information and guidance in the rulebook to help you do that.

And because we know that kids (and grown ups) like to have things look “official” we have worked with our fantastic friend Bob Haigh to come up with this awesome CoraQuest Character Creator App in order to let you use your own computer and printer to produce fabulous looking Hero Cards and Standees.

Comic Capers

The thing we like most about CoraQuest is it creates really exciting stories, full of dare doing, close scrapes and all-round silliness. With such a marvelous pantheon of characters, especially given you can create your own, it struck us that it would be great to encourage ‘little heroes’ to document their epic adventures.

The Prototypes Are Here!

The CoraQuest prototypes have arrived from the printer and they are absolutely amazing!

We have sent 10 of these prototypes out to a variety of previewers and reviewers to take a look at, and have had nothing but positive feedback from them so far.

Cora and I kept a copy back for ourselves of course, and there isn’t a day goes by that I don’t get them out to admire them and marvel at how far CoraQuest has come.

And if all that wasn’t enough, there are even more exciting things on the horizon! We have a special secret project lined up to reveal in just a couple of weeks that I feel takes CoraQuest to an entirely new level of awesomeness.
